Chris Conway - About Me

I left school in 1980 and started an apprenticeship as a joiner in the shipyard. I’ve always enjoyed building and fixing things, solving problems and seeing the results of my efforts. Teaching was my main passion though and during my time as a joiner taught many apprentices, interacting and passing on my knowledge of the trade gave me great satisfaction, I am still friends with many of my apprentices and have now began to teach their children to drive as they know I will put every effort into giving them the best tuition possible.

I’ve also had a very keen interest in cars and motorbikes, in fact anything with wheels and an engine, I’ve traveled all around the country many times gaining a lot of experience of many situations.

In 2001 BAE were asking for volunteers for redundancy, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to follow my dream and put both my passions together teaching and driving. It was hard work at first and very scary leaving a secure job to start up on my own but I never looked back, I love this job and my greatest reward is seeing my learners faces when they pass their test, my only regret is that I didn’t become a driving instructor sooner.

Ford Fiesta - About The Car

The new Ford Fiesta ecoboost, the bestselling car in the country and for good reason, mine has been professionally fitted with dual controls so whatever situation I can take control and keep us safe at all times, I can also demonstrate manoeuvres etc without having to swap seats, I can literally drive the car from the passenger seat, just by using the dual controls.

There’s plenty of space in the cabin of a fiesta, and the driving position can be easily adjusted so you’ll find yourself at home fairly quickly. The pedals and gearbox are light and easy to use to give a smooth drive with very little effort, and inspire confidence in the new learner and make your driving lessons more enjoyable.

The New fiesta’s steering lightens at slower speeds and reverse, and the tight turning circle makes reverse parking and accuracy a lot less of an effort. In my opinion the new Ford Fiesta is a great car to learn in and a great car to teach in.
